Course information

This FREE First Aid training course is available for anyone who lives in Birmingham and cares for a family member or loved one who is elderly, frail and/ or mentally or physically disabled.

Sadly, older people and those with special needs can be particularly vulnerable to accidents and injuries. This course is for carers and parent carers who want to learn what to do in the event of an accident or emergency.

During this three hour course, you will learn a range of practical skills for how to deal with injuries and illness, from treating a minor fall to a major head injury and what to do if someone has a fit. You will also learn the technical skills and confidence to perform CPR.

Please note, the building is fully accessible and parking for disabled badge holders is available on site.

What are my transport options?

Buses to and from Birmingham City University (City South Campus a.k.a Edgbaston Campus)

The bus stop is just outside the University and can be reached using the following routes:

10 from Birmingham to Quinton Road West via Augustus Road

10H from Birmingham to Quinton via Harborne

22 from Birmingham to Kitwell via Harborne

23 from Birmingham to Woodgate via Harborne

24 from Birmingham to Woodgate Valley North via Harborne

29 from Birmingham to Northfield via Weoley Castle

647 from Five Ways to Selly Oak via Harborne

Other Bus Routes/Connections: 

All the above connections make the return journey along Harborne Road (exit via the back entrance of BCU) into Birmingham and stop at Colmore Row. 

 Connections for Handsworth and Great Barr leave from Bull Street - nos. 16 and 16A.

There is a No. 1 bus that travels from Birmingham to Acocks Green along Calthorpe Road, via Moseley, crossing Bristol Road to connect with services to Longbridge, Rubery and Rednal (nos. 61 and 63). This bus also crosses Pershore Road to connect with services to West Heath and Turves Green (nos. 45 and 47).

There is a No. 8 bus that travels along the Inner Circle down Ladywood Middleway to Five Ways Station, crossing Stratford Road to connect with services nos. 83, 4, 5 and 6 which go to Shirley, Solihull and Widney.

Travel by Rail:

Five Ways Train Station is approximately 15 minutes’ walk away from School. There are connections on the cross city line from Lichfield to Redditch.

Travel by Metro:

Services operate into Birmingham Snow Hill. Followed by a bus to Westbourne Road from just outside, of which there is a wide selection. See above services.
