Event description

With the ever expanding and developing internet; gaming and socialising online is opening a whole world of exciting possibilities, it is imperative for our children to be taught how to be safe online and to understand the reality of their and others' actions.

Geeks Room CIC, in collaboration with Leeds City Council; Inner West Community Committee, and The Computer Assistant, want to show young people from the ages of 8 - 18, the potential dangers of being online, while giving them the knowledge and understanding to be safe in the world of technology without stopping them from enjoying the wonders of it.

We will discuss topics such as:

  • Protecting and Maintaining Privacy

  • Streaming, Sharing and Social Media

  • The effects of cyber bullying

  • Managing Security, Passwords and Accounts

  • How to be safe while gaming online

  • Viruses, Malware and other harmful software

  • The risks and after effects of unsafe computing

Geeks Room CIC will be hosting two free sessions a month, until December 2019; each month will delve into different areas of online and game safety, so please check back for new upcoming dates, times and themes. (These will also be announced via out Facebook and Twitter pages @GeeksRoomCIC )

At the end of the course your student will take home:

Certificate of Attendance and Completion
