Event description

Description

The nationally acclaimed Heritage Open Days scheme celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Every year for two days in September, we throw open our doors so you can enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local Nottinghamshire history and culture.
We will be open from 11am to 5pm so you will have plenty of time to be captivated by the skills and ingenuity of the workers and entrepreneurs that put Nottingham at the heart of the industrial revolution. Why don't you bring the whole family for a day of wonder and inspiration?
Located in the 17th century stable block of Wollaton Hall, we house a unique collection of working steam and diesel engines, as well as examples of local textile and transport technologies. We also have exhibits reflecting local industries such as mining, railways, bicycles, motorcycles, lace, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, tobacco and printing.
There will be volunteers on hand to give guided tours and to explain the history of the exhibits. The day is suitable for the whole family; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is FREE but Wollaton Hall car park charges still apply. Small charges may apply for some activities. Donations are very much welcomed - we are a fully volunteer led registered charity and rely on the generosity of our visitors to help us maintain our collection and to remain financially sustainable.
