This FREE half day HR event will provide broad, practical advice and tips for any business owner, manager or person responsible for HR *including what the election results may mean for your business

Employment law is complex; ignorance will be no defence if you receive an employment tribunal claim. We will cover:

  • Self-employed, worker or employee?’ – Understand what this means, the government's proposals; how this works in practice and what the risk is of getting it wrong.  Especially important for those employers using self-employed basis, where there could be risk - including freelancers, contractors, sports coaches, rent-a-chair, dental hygienists.  PLUS new changes in IR35 rules from April 2020.
  • Contracts of Employment - what to issue and when, including new requirements coming in April 2020
  • Discrimination risks – are you aware of where you may face risk at any stage when employing people, from recruitment through to dismissal and how to avoid claims?
  • ‘Helping out’- people who ‘help out’ on a casual basis are likely to have rights – do you know what they are and could you be at risk?
  • Disciplinary and Grievance – understand the differences between capability and conduct, how to discipline staff and deal with issues that could be grievances.
  • Holidays – are you aware of statutory rights for holiday entitlement and how to calculate, especially for part time, casual and zero hours staff?
  • Managing Absence including sickness and what rights employees have to statutory time off e.g. maternity, paternity, emergency dependant leave and rights to request flexible working.
  • What the costs could be of ‘getting it wrong’ if you receive an Employment Tribunal claims.
