An interactive mythical creature mashup drawing activity with the authors of Here Be Dragons Susannah Lloyd and Paddy Donnelly.

In Here Be Dragons, the other knights think there is no such thing as a dragon, but our knight is certain that there IS and he has a map to prove it!

Do YOU believe in dragons? People believed in some weird and wonderful creatures in medieval times, and they put them on their maps, in case anyone was brave enough to go looking for one!

We wonder what sort of creature our knight might go looking for next… Everyone has heard of dragons, mermaids and unicorns, but some medieval creatures were even stranger looking! Can you describe them to help Paddy draw them onto our very own monster map? Horses head? No problem! Webbed claws? Why ever not? Just add a fish’s tail and hey presto, we have ourselves a monster!

Those medieval monsters might look pretty strange, but we bet YOU can think of stranger ones! With your help we will generate some BRAND NEW mythical creature mashups for Paddy to live draw and for you to draw along at home too, on your very own maps.

We will rate their scariness levels, ranging from ‘Forsooth! That is quite scary!’ all the way up to ‘Egads! We are doomed! Run for your lives while you still have the chance!’
