Children aged between 5-11yr (can be 4yr if independant) are invited to come and spend the day at the Education Centre at Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. They will take part in lots of Halloween themed arts and crafts both inside and around the nature reserve. Once parents have collected children at 3pm there will be an opportunity to take part in a lantern walk around the nature reserve and take part in some Halloween games until approximately 5pm. Children need to be accompanied by a parent between 3pm-5pm.
Please read the following BEFORE booking your child onto the event:
- There is a possibility of early drop off for this event at 8:30am, please seek prior agreement from Gemma.email@example.com. Your child must be dropped off at the Education Centre and signed in by you.
- All children will need to wear clothes they can get dirty, a waterproof jacket with hood, wellies or other outdoor footwear
- Children must bring with them a refillable water bottle, a snack and a packed lunch
- Please read the FAQ's below before booking also.
- fancy dress is optional but encouraged
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
The ideal age is 5-10 years old. Some of the activities maybe too young for 10+. If your child is only 4 but is due to go to primary school in September and you think they are independant enough to come along please get in touch. If your child is aged 4 and do not like to play independantly, go to the toilet independantly etc then this event is not suitable for them.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Drop off is at 9:30am and collection is at 2:30pm (later pick up until 3:30 can be requested). All children will need to be dropped off in the coach layby and then parents will need to park and walk over to the Education Centre each day to sign in their child/ren, this should take place no earlier than 9:20am. On the first day an ‘emergency contact and allergy form’ will need to be filled in upon arrival so please make sure that you have the following information available per child that you are dropping off:
Date of birth
Next of kin and contact number
Any medical info we should be aware of and details of medication
Please drive onto site (WA5 2UT) at 10mph and pull into the layby on the left hand side where a member of staff in high vis will be waiting to great you and you will then be shown where to park. Please follow site rules such as reverse parking, following yellow walkways as adhering to these rules allows the events to continue each year.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Your child should ideally leave any expensive items at home as we do not take any responsibility for loss of items. If your child likes to take photos they could bring a cheap disposible camera with them. Games consoles are activly encouraged to remain at home! There is nothing to purchase and no vending machine so the children do not need any money . They should:
Wear clothes that can get mud/glue on them
Packed lunch, snack and refillable bottle
Wellies/sensible outdoor shoes
Any medication clearly labelled and handed into G.Davis
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
firstname.lastname@example.org and 01514795795/5710. In an emergency please call 07508275850.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
No but i appreciate that plans change so please get in touch as soon as possible if you realise that your child can no longer attend. There are limited numbers for all of the activity days and places are allocated on a first come basis, I do not hold places anymore and bookings can only be done via booking on via the Eventbrite system. This allows me to keep you informed about the dates you have booked. If your child can not attend the event that you have booked for them please let me know as soon as possible so that another child can take their place and there is always a waiting list.
What happens if I do not turn up?
A place will be wasted as it will probably be too late to let the reserved/waiting list know. This is a real shame and over the summer camp it happened twice with 2 families who I will no longer be taking bookings from.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, just your booking name.
What if my child breaks the rules/boundaries ?
Behaviour tends to be excellent during the summer camps. However, if any child is witnessed bullying another child they will be spoken to and the behaviour will be addressed and dealt with using behaviour management techniques similar to that used in primary schools. However, if a child continues to cause us concern after having been giving the time to rectify their behaviour I will need to call parents in order to discuss the possibility of collecting the child.
