Do I need to bring anything?

No – we provide all the materials you’ll need (willow, tape, tissue, glue, LED lights). Just bring yourself and your ideas!

How long does it take to make a lantern?

Most lanterns take about 1.5 - 2 hours to make depending on how complex they are, but you can work at your own pace! Our expert team will be on hand to help!

What kind of lanterns can I make?

Pretty much anything you can imagine! We’ve had birds, castles, footballs, dogs, and even dinosaurs. Our team will help you bring your ideas to life.

Can children take part?

Yes! The workshops are family-friendly. We just ask that children are accompanied by an adult.

What happens if I don’t finish my lantern during the workshop?

Accepted Answer

We will try to make sure you are able to finish your lantern across the weekend - if you don't we can provide some materials for you to finish them at home!

Question 6

Can I bring my own materials if I want to decorate my lantern differently?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We provide everything you need, but feel free to bring along coloured tissue or other light materials if you’d like to add your own decorative flair to your lantern.

Can I drop in for part of a session, or do I need to stay for the whole thing?

Yes, you’re welcome to drop in – but making a lantern does take a little time, so please arrive with enough time before the end of the session to finish your creation.

Is the workshop space step-free (entrance, corridors, and workshop room)?

Yes - the space we will use at The Dockland Settlemenst is fully wheelchair accessible, including step free access, wide enough doors and accessible toilets.

Are there tables and chairs available for people who may not be able to work standing up?

Accepted Answer

Yes - there are tables and chairs in the hall for those that would prefer to sit down.

Question 10

Is there disabled parking close to the venue?

Accepted Answer

There are parking bays across the road from the centre with 3 hours free parking.
