Description

A brand new FREE Work Group aimed at Heads of Maths and Key Stage 3 Coordinators in Secondary Schools to help Lead change in their departments and to start considering elements of the Teaching for Mastery approach.

2 participants, ideally the Head of Maths and KS3 Coordinator from each school, will work with other Secondary schools and the Work Group Lead to look at planning, developing, supporting and observing outstanding Learning & Teaching within their departments.

The programme will comprise 3 half day sessions at St John the Baptist School, Woking plus 3 Support Visits to your school from our specialists (dates and times to be agreed)

  • Session 1: Outstanding L&T And How We Observe It: Thurs 23 Jan 1.30pm - 4.30pm

  • Session 2: Planning & Developing Outstanding L&T : Thurs 19 March 9.30am - 12.30pm

  • Session 3: Assessment & Progression That Support Outstanding L&T: Monday 15 June 9.30 - 12.30pm

2 teachers from each school are expected to attend all 3 sessions and to complete intersessional activities, be present at support visits and complete an evaluation.

North-East Hants and Surrey (NEHS) Maths Hub is led by St John the Baptist School, Woking and runs a large programme of  Work Groups and events throughout the year with the aim of improving Maths teaching, leadership and professional learning practice to transform Maths education.

The Maths Hubs Network is the collaborative partnership of the 40 Maths Hubs across England, supported and facilitated by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). It is part of the wider development of school-led, system leadership of education in England.
