Join us for a coffee, croissant and a chat about the importance of ethics in public relations at this free members’ event to celebrate CIPR ethics month 2016.
Jane Cumming was appointed as the first Chair of the CIPR Professional Standards Panel in 2014. She will outline her role and explain what is involved in a complaint, drawing on real cases of PR practice which have been considered at a complaint hearing. These will demonstrate how the CIPR code of conduct can be breached and why it is important all PR practitioners maintain the highest professional standards and fully understand their responsibilities under the code. There will also be a short Q&A session.
Jane Cumming has been involved for some years in complaints hearings, initially as a member of the Professional Practices Committee of the CIPR Council. When the Professional Standards Panel was created as a separate standalone body in January 2014, she became its first Chair.
Jane is a Founding Chartered Practitioner, as well as a Fellow of the CIPR. With more than 30 years in the business, she has tackled some of the most high-profile jobs in Scottish PR across the public and private sectors. Most recently she has been Managing Director of her own PR consultancy, now part of the Muckle Media Group.
The CIPR Ethics Festival is held in October to promote the CIPR's role as a regulator of conduct and highlight the responsibilities of professionals in PR. Attendance at this event will earn members 5 CPD points, which can be attributed towards the compulsory ethics module.
