Description

Nottinghamshire County Council have commissioned Harmless to deliver a range of Mental Health awareness and Suicide prevention accredited courses. Please note, you must be a resident or supporting people who reside in Nottinghamshire to qualify for a place on this training course in order to meet eligibility criteria for this free training session. Only 2 people from the same organisation can attend the course at one time.

Full day Module 2 & 3 Mental Health , Suicide Awareness and Intervention training

Training is targeted to specific audiences, rather than knowledge levels so you will not need to attend ALL modules.

We are aware third sector Frontline staff may work with a mixture of clients including those with low mood or worry and those who may have more medium level mental health support needs, with one or more coexisting conditions.

As such, we are now running Module 2 and 3 as a full day please see details about the merged courses below.

Module 2 & 3 Target Audience:

For third sector frontline staff working with

  • Adults (18+)
  • With low level mental health support needs
  • Those with undiagnosed mental health conditions
  • Those with low mood or worry
  • Or Adults (18+)
  • With medium level mental health support needs
  • Who may have one or more coexisting conditions

Module 2 &3 learning outcomes:

  • Understand the mental health continuum
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of a range of mental health conditions
  • Explore the links between physical and mental health
  • Recognise the risk factors and warning signs for suicide risk
  • Build skill and confidence in supporting someone in suicidal crisis
  • Increase awareness of the impact of attitudes and beliefs that lead to stigma and discrimination around mental ill health and suicide
  • Understand the wider impact of emotional distress and suicide on friends and family
  • Explore the Five Ways to Wellbeing and Safe to Talk about Suicide
  • Increase confidence in guiding and supporting someone in distress to appropriate professional services, including those in suicidal crisis
  • Explore the links between physical and mental health, including a focus on long-term physical health conditions and behavioural disorders
  • Recognise signs and symptoms of a range of mental health conditions
  • Understand the impact mental health conditions have on a person’s life as well as the wider impacts
  • Develop skills to respond to and support someone with a mental health condition
  • Establish ways to support individuals in self-management and early intervention

This training is not suitable for professional groups who require more in-depth skills and knowledge to assess and provide long-term support to individuals with mental ill health.
