About this event

Other

As part of Heritage Open Days , this free guided walk lasting up to 2 hours will give you a tour of Staunton Country Park (Leigh Park Gardens), a listed Regency Parkland, which is now an RHS Partner Garden, holding the National collection of Lardizabalaceae.

This plant heritage tour will be led by our lead volunteer for horticulture and ex Park Manager, Tim. Find out more about our fascinating National Collection of Lardizabalaceae, a plant family with 7 genera and 40 different species from across the temperate and subtropical world. These include the familiar Akebia, the Sargentodoxa, of which there are only a handful growing in the UK, and most interestingly, the Stauntonia, an Asian vine named after the Staunton family, one-time residents of the Country Park.
