Playlistening: Play that Helps with Power Struggles
“Everything Happens in Play!” – Patty Wipfler, Founder, Hand in Hand Parenting
“Play is the Highest Form of Research” – Albert Einstein, Theoretical Physicist
Play is how children learn the world. It’s an essential need for children. Through play they can show us what they feel, what things have happened to them, and what they are wrestling with.
Playlistening is a special kind of play that supports children and teens to move through fears to recover their confidence in themselves.
Children and teens are learners in an adult world and must ‘fail a 1000 times’ before they learn to walk as toddlers, speak, learn at school or home, socialise and understand their world as they grow. Playlistening supports their experiments as learners as well as your parent/child relationships.
Not so excited about play? Most of us had parents who were working too hard or were too stressed to play. Playlistening is not the easiest tool for some of us. Alongside Playlistening we’ll experiment with how it is to play as adults, introduce the tool of Listening Partnerships and help you re-connect to your own feelings around play. It may help you get a little ‘un-stuck’ and you may even have some fun, play and laughter!
