FREE Primary Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics for TA's

About this Event
A programme to ensure Teaching Assistants have the necessary understanding & skills to work with classroom teachers in raising the Maths attainment of children they support. This programme compliments our Primary Specialist Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics for Teachers and includes adapted content specifically relevant for Teaching Assistants.
The programme aims to:
- Develop subject knowledge & build confidence
- Support understanding of the mastery curriculum
- Enable Teaching Assistants to support students with progression through calculations
- Suggest strategies for challenging fast graspers & struggling learners
- Provide useful resources
Session 1-4 will cover various topics such as : Number sense - Counting, subitising, magnitude, part-whole, unitising. Additive Reasoning - reasoning vs addition, combining, change, comparison and equalizing. Multiplicative reasoning and Fractions.
Choice of 2 Groups
Online - Group 1
2nd Feb (was 12 Jan), 9th February, 16th March , May 11th 2020 : 1.30-3.30pm
Online - Group 2
25th February, 25th March, 6th May, 10th June 2020 : 1.30-3.30pm
2 Teaching Assistants from each participating school will be required to attend all sessions for this Work Group and Gap Tasks completed.
Although this Work Group is online, it is offered to State-funded schools in the North-East Hants and Surrey Maths Hub Region.
