Free Public Screening: 'Living Proof: A Climate Story' + 'At Last'
Date and time
Join us at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse to celebrate the first public showing of 'At Last', alongside 'Living Proof: A Climate Story'.
About this event
You are warmly invited to a public screening at the Arts Picturehouse in Cambridge on 22 February 2022 at 6pm, for the final event in the project The Cinema as Time Capsule: using film to capture vanishing worlds.
For this event, we will be showing two films:
1. At Last (2022)
A short film produced by five teenagers as part of the 'Cinema as Time Capsule' project, At Last interweaves archival footage with images shot at Cambridge’s Botanic Garden. Created over the course of a weekend while world leaders gathered for the COP-26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, it is a reflection on the role of images and storytelling in shaping our attitudes towards climate and the environment. This event celebrates the film’s premiere!
2. Living Proof: A Climate Story (2021)
Created by the National Library of Scotland’s Dr. Emily Munro, Living Proof “evocatively portrays a country shaped by demands for energy and economic growth, while a dramatic soundtrack amplifies the voices of the past in powerful and unsettling ways.” You can find out more about the film here. This screening is a rare opportunity to watch the film in a cinema outside of Scotland!
The Cinema as Time Capsule is a project by Max Long and Dr. Amy Cutler. You can learn more about the project here.
Support for this event is kindly provided by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge.
