About this event
Leading specialist children’s homes can feel like navigating stormy seas—a testament to resilience as we navigate evolving regulations, staffing pressures, safeguarding complexities, and the profound emotional weight of our vital mission. General meetings for leaders often miss the mark, overlooking the unique challenges our homes encounter. Safe Harbour is crafted to inspire and empower leaders, focusing on the pertinent issues through a disability-focused lens, ensuring that our discussions are not only relevant but truly meaningful.
In compliance with SCCIF guidelines, homes must implement effective training and development activities tailored to meet the specific needs of the children they are responsible for. Safe Harbour serves as a professional sanctuary and a quarterly online space where you can connect with leaders who understand the weight of responsibility, the complexity of care, and the deep drive to lead with compassion and excellence.
In a 90-minute session, you’ll:
· Connect with leaders across the sector in a supportive, confidential space
· Share experiences, dilemmas, and breakthroughs
· Explore current challenges and seek real-world solutions
· Exchange ideas, insights, and inspiration
· Reconnect with your values, your purpose, and your peers
Whether you’re newly appointed or a seasoned leader in disability homes, Safe Harbour is your place to feel seen, supported, and strengthened.
Your facilitator, Eithne Staunton, known from the Free Managers Monthly meetups, has an ethos grounded in a child-first, person-centred approach. She sees behaviour as a form of communication and prioritises understanding the reasons behind it. Eithne champions compassionate, outcomes-focused practices that equip teams to respond with empathy, respect, and insight. With nearly two decades of experience as a Registered Manager and a proven track record of achieving 'Outstanding' ratings from Ofsted, Eithne is passionate about inspiring excellence in social care, supporting children, families, and those who care for them to thrive.
Delivery - The virtual event is hosted on Zoom. Participants need access to a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a quiet and private space to join from, and to have made sure they can access Zoom
