Event description
A seminar putting the Cold War in the Brecks into the East Anglian and national context. Led by Dr Richard Hoggett, archaeologist.

About this Event

East Anglia, and in particular the Brecks, was home to a disproportionately large part of Britain's infrastructure for a potential nuclear war. It included V-bomber bases, one of the country's two large nuclear bomb stores, Thor missile sites, Royal Observer Corps bunkers and much more. And although the Cold War 'officially' finished just 30 years ago, much of that infrastructure has been abandoned and allowed to decay.

This free seminar, putting the Cold War in the Brecks into the East Anglian and national context, will be led by local archaeologist Dr Richard Hoggett. He will look at themes of ‘Attack, Defence, Detection and Fallout’ and we will have the opportunity to look at some of the relevant maps and plans.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.

This seminar is supported and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, as part of the Breckland Society's 'Cold War in The Brecks' project.

Due to the size of the venue, and the interactive nature of part of the seminar, places are strictly limited to 20, issued on a 'first come, first served' basis, and are initially limited to two per order.

PLEASE - if you book and find later that you are unable to attend, please let the organiser know as soon as possible so that we can release your tickets to someone else on the waiting list.
