About this event

About The Event

Come join us on a delicious journey to rediscover lost South Asian dishes, flavours tucked away by time, borders, and language.

Roll up your sleeves and get cooking as we dive into the stories behind these hidden gems. While some of these dishes are everyday favourites back home, they’re not so common here in the UK, and we think it’s time they got the spotlight they deserve! We’ve curated a menu that brings these forgotten flavours back to life, all while keeping your plate balanced and your taste buds happy.

You don't need any prior cooking experience, the professional chef will guide you through the recipe for each dish. Come along alone or with a friend or two. Everyone is welcome and you'll have the chance to meet peers who are also passionate about food. You’ll also get the chance to meet fellow food lovers, chat about why some cultural dishes are disappearing, and support an amazing London youth food charity, all in one tasty evening. Expect good vibes, fun games and to end your time with us on a high!

Welcome drinks and snacks on arrival:

  • Fruit Kebabs - “A selection of various fruits on a wooden skewer.”
  • Aam Panna - “A cool and refreshing Deccani green mango drink.”
  • Iced Chai - “A diasporic chilled, milky black tea with a myriad of warm Awadhi spices"

Main dish

  • Baingan ka Bharta - "Smoky, smashed Malwai Aubergine with a smooth tomato base."

Complementary Sides

  • Chana Chaat - “A fiery Rawalpindi chickpea salad balanced with a burst of fresh herbs.”
  • Chaal Kopi - “A Bengali Stir-fried rice and Cauliflower dish.”
  • Madua Ki Roti - “Earthen finger millet flatbread from the Garhwal Himalayan foothills.”

Room for Dessert

  • Coconut Payasam - "A creamy Malabari coconut rice pudding with roasted coconut flakes.”

What Is Eat Club?

Eat Club is a registered London youth food charity. Our aim is to improve young people's relationship with food by tackling hidden barriers to healthy eating. Subsequently, improving young people's health and wellbeing. Through, initiatives such as supper clubs and cooking courses at youth and community centres.

The Inspiration behind the Supper Club

The Young Leaders at Eat Club are shaking up the idea of the traditional 'Supper Club', and giving it a fresh twist with a big dose of community spirit. As our sense of togetherness drifts in today’s fast-paced world, we wanted to bring people back to the table, literally, and celebrate the dishes that often get left behind. Think bold flavours, untold stories, and recipes that deserve way more love than they get.

From research and recipe testing to curating the final menu, The Forgotten Feast has been entirely dreamed up and delivered by young people. It’s a fully youth-led project, and we’re so excited to share it with you.

We hope you enjoy what we’ve cooked up, with heart, soul, and a whole lot of spice!
