Join Aimi Pinder of Crooked Boot Farm and Nursery for a hands-on community workshop exploring how our gardens can be powerful tools in the fight against biodiversity loss and climate change. Discover the deep connections between healthy ecosystems and a stable climate—and how everyday gardening choices can make an impact.We’ll explore the native species that already call our gardens home, and how to design outdoor spaces that support pollinators, birds, insects, and soil life. From selecting native plants to creating habitats and rethinking “weeds,” this workshop blends practical skills with ecological insight. You'll leave with the tools and inspiration to turn your patch of earth—no matter how big or small—into a thriving web of life.Together, we'll reconnect with the idea that humans are not separate from nature—we’re part of the ecosystem, and we have the power to nurture it.

Friday the 12th of September - 10 a.m to 4:00 p.m - Ballyphehane Community Centre -Tory Top Park

Tea/coffee and lunch refreshments will be provided

Items to bring:

Wear outdoor clothing suitable for some practical gardening
Gardening gloves if you have them.
Old seed trays or small plant pots or reused plastic food trays for seed sowing activity
Mug for tea/coffee

This course is suitable for adults who want to improve their space for biodiversity, reduce the effects of climate change and help build a more sustainable community. It is particularly of interest to Tidy Towns Groups, Resident Association Groups, Community Groups and Environmental Groups but is also open to individuals who would like to make a difference. Some of the course will be outside so please bring sensible footwear.
