Event description
An 13 km (8 miles) walk tracing the line from Kenwood House, Hampstead through Camden to Blackfriars of the hidden River Fleet

About this Event

Meet Saturday 16 May 2020 at 11 am outside Hampstead Underground station for a 13km (8 mile) walk tracing the line of the River Fleet.

This is one of London's 12 Hidden Rivers and the Fleet is arguably its most famous. I will be referring to the David Fathers book 'London's Hidden Rivers' as I navigate us from Hampstead to the banks of the Thames at Blackfriars.

London has many rivers but they are often hidden under centuries of development. From Kenwood House we pass through Camden, walk alongside the Regent's Canal, visit St Pancras Old Church, cross the famous street that got its name from the river and finish up on the north side of Blackfriars bridge.

We will stop for a lunch break, hopefully where you can eat the food you've bought with you or buy from a nearby cafe. More details will follow nearer the date.

For those who fancy it we'll pop into a local pub for a drink or two at the end.
