Event description

This webinar will look at strengths-based approaches. Specifically:

The Department of Health and Social Care has developed the following guidance:

  • a strengths-based practice framework

  • a supporting handbook showing what strengths-based practice is and how it fits with the law.

The good news is that strength based approaches (SBAs) provide valuable learning right across the care and support sector.

It follows a 2017 report on strengths-based social work practice with adults.

Hear from Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults, Ewan King, SCIE's Chief Operating Officer and Rob Mitchell, Principal Social Worker, Bradford Council.

SBAs are defined as ‘collaborative processes between the person supported by services and those supporting them, allowing them to work together to determine an outcome that draws on the person’s strengths and assets.’ Their goal is to give people choice and control to shape services in ways which deliver the outcomes they seek.
