Understanding Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA):

Experiencing some anxiety about school is very normal for children and young people, particularly at transition points such as a new term or during exams. However for some young people, this anxiety can become overwhelming and result in the avoidance of school. This is referred to as Emotionally Based School Avoidance which highlights the emotional factors underlying attendance difficulties. Aimed at parents, carers and professionals, this webinar will explore the definition, risk factors and signs of EBSA, highlighting available interventions and support. The session will be hosted by Dr Mollie Higgins, a child and educational psychologist with specialist experience of helping young people with school avoidance difficulties.
