About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours

Visit Normanby Hall Country Park for the day and take part in our two new STEAM linked workshops.

10am - 1`2pm Bright Ideas in the Hall

Take up the challenge to design a lamp for the 4th Baronet’s reading chair.

Handle a range of historical artefacts linked to lighting, placing them in chronological order and mapping development in technology.

12-12.45pm lunch break, bring a packed lunch or pick up something from the cafe.

12.45-2.45pm Axles and Wheels in the Rural Life Museum

Explore the many examples of farm vehicles in the Rural Life Museum then create mock-ups of wheel and axle mechanisms. Using this as inspiration, you will then design and create your own toy farm vehicle

Please meet your learning assistant at the Park Education Room (wooden buildings near the Walled Garden) at 9.45am for a 10am start.

There is no charge for this workshop for the full day and it is suitable for children aged 5 and over.

Places are limited so tickets must be reserved and each one will include one child and one accompanying adult.

We request that at least one adult stays with their child(ren) throughout the workshops and during lunch.

There will be an indoor space to eat a packed lunch or you can use the cafe on site.

Please note, although the workshop is FREE, the usual entry fee to Normanby Hall Country Park will apply (or show your annual membership).

For any larger group enquiries, please contact us on 01724 296039 to book a session, subject to availability.
