Join us at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry on Saturday 6th September 2025 for FREE workshops in MOVEMENT, SINGING and DESIGN, led by members of the 'Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century' creative team. 'Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century' is a new opera rooted in Coventry communities.
MOVE with Mark Evans 10.30 am - 12 noon Weston Learning Space.
Learn how to use movement to create character, mood and story using themes from our new opera theatre project as a starting point. The workshop will encourage you to express your ideas playfully in a safe and welcoming space. Please wear loose comfortable clothing that you can move easily in.
SING with Marcela Campaña 12.45 pm - 2.15 pm Weston Learning Space.
Learn how to connect and communicate with an audience singing songs from our new opera theatre project. The workshop will develop your singing technique and help you to explore your voice with confidence, whatever your starting point.
DESIGN with Nancy Surman 2.30 pm - 4 pm Weston Learning Space.
Learn ways to design for live performance using text from our new opera theatre project as your inspiration. The workshop will cover how you can generate exciting ideas for set and costume design. All materials provided.
You can book for more than one workshop, but please ensure that you book a ticket for each workshop if you decide to do more than one.
The workshops are suitable for everyone aged 16+. No previous experience is necessary. There are only 15 places available for each workshop so book your FREE place now to avoid missing out. Paid parking is available next door to the Belgrade Theatre at the Belgrade Plaza Car Park. The Belgrade Theatre is a short walk from Coventry Bus Station (5 minutes) and Coventry Railway Station (15 minutes). A drop-off point for people with limited mobility is available via Upper Well Street at the top of Belgrade Square, outside Bella Italia. The point is marked by stainless steel bollards and is approx. 20m from the Belgrade Theatre entrance. Parking is not permitted at this point.
