Yoga Up at This Vibrant Thing - Free workshops @ Longsight Library

As part of 'This Vibrant Thing', Yoga Up aka Cat Teague, will be collaborating with Platform Mcr, and inviting you to not only celebrate and re-imagine the library space, but to also re-imagine yourself!

Yoga is a tool for life: just like learning to read or write, it is tool that can empower you, help you to express yourself through movement, look after your well-being by paying attention to your body and breath and improve your sense of identity and confidence.

Do you want to be a peaceful warrior? Strong and confident about yourself. Or tall and stable like a tree? Or move in a way you never thought you could? All you have to do is take part and allow your imagination to open up!

Join in with us for these two creative yoga workshops:

Workshop 1

12pm - 20 minute workshop for 4-10 year old's with parents or guardians

If you have ever wondered how yoga could help you and your child? This family yoga-story-telling session could be a great start! It will tap into you and your child's imagination, teaching you breath work together to calm the mind and body, then it's off into a storytelling adventure that will take you and your child through imagined spaces and a variety of yoga poses starting in the jungle and finishing up floating like a cloud in the sky! Guardian attendance / parental attendance essential.

Workshop 2

12.30pm - 20 minutes for 11+ young people and Adults

Growing up comes with all sorts of challenges. The journey from adolescence to adult comes with a sense of reality....There's plenty to stress about which can cause you to worry sometimes. What if you could learn some simple techniques which you could do in the comfort of your own home to help relieve stress?

This session will help you to understand your body and mind better and how simple breathing techniques can help you to stay calm in moments of pressure. Tapping into your imagination through a visualisaton exercise you can improve a sense of 'who you are' helping to overcome barriers. You will learn yoga basics helping you to move your body in different ways relieving pockets of tension, stress and tightness built up due to pressure, frustration and tightness. Tapping into those areas helps to create space in your mind and body, so you can get on with the fun stuff feeling clearer and more relaxed about life.

Supervision by parents & carers is essential for young people aged under 16!
