Freedom of Information (FOI) basics training

Freedom of information is a complex area of law and a basic understanding of it is key for anyone with responsibilities in this area.

Why attend?

If you’re new to freedom of information and want to increase your knowledge, or if you simply need a refresher, this training session is for you.

The training will help you understand:

• The relevant legislation, key terms and the regulator;
• Individuals’ rights under the Freedom of Information Act 2000; and
• How to recognise, manage and respond to a FOI request.

This training session is designed for beginners who are new to the freedom of information legislation. It will also be helpful for anyone who is responsible for an organisation’s freedom of information compliance to consolidate their knowledge, including but not limited to:

• Information officers
• Information teams
• Anyone involved with information management
