Description

✨We would like to invite you to join us in celebrating the beginning of Freedom Of Mind Festival 2017 with our Launch Gala at Creative Youth Network’s The Station! ✨

This is your chance to meet the Freedom of Mind team and other professionals who are dedicated to helping promote better mental health and emotional well being. We will be joined by campaigners and local changemakers to enjoy live music, scrumptious buffet food and creative performances/speeches all evening from the likes of:

*Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol*
Having addressed the closing conference at Freedom of Mind Festival 2016, Marvin will be returning to open this year's series of events. He says “Mental health issues will affect one in four of us at some point in our lives, so it is important that we have the tools we need to look after our emotional wellbeing. Partnership working is key, so it’s really positive that the Freedom of Mind festival is bringing people together to collectively discuss the issues.”

* Casey Bailey *
Having performed at multiple TEDx Events, his first short collection of poetry ‘Waiting at Bloomsbury Park’ was published in July 2017, Casey has been described as a ‘lyrical and literal poet, a conscious Hip Hop artist and a thoughtful and reflective writer’. Casey is most comfortable when he is consciously expressing his thoughts and feelings, with the hope that they will go on to have an impact on the thoughts and feelings of others.

* Hands of the Heron *
Hands of the Heron is a fledgling folk collective who emerged from Bristol in the autumn of 2016. Drawing influence from diverse musical sources such as Fleet Foxes, Joni Mitchell, This Is The Kit and Gustav Holst, their songcraft is inquisitive and intuitive, capturing moments of high emotion and distilling them into vivid, memorable melodies.

* Stay Hungry *
The evolution of progressive hip-hop is in the good hands of these brothers. With an innovative angle to conscious and elevating hip-hop, the duo look to prove the hype that has surrounded them since their emergence on the Bristol, South-West and festival scene 2 years ago. Watch out for their new self-produced EP which is dropping in October too!

* Emily Maguire *
A classically trained multi-instrumentalist with five albums and two books to her name, Emily Maguire is truly "a talent to be reckoned with" (R2 Magazine), her strong, thought provoking lyrics, supremely expressive vocals and stunning live performances winning her fans across the globe. After living in a shack in the Australian bush where she made her first two albums, Emily returned to the UK to tour with American legend Don McLean and make her third album 'Believer', a 'masterpiece' according to Maverick Magazine, with two singles playlist on Radio 2. Her latest album 'A Bit Of Blue' was released in February 2017.
