Are there minimum requirements or an age limit to enter On-Snow Coaching?
In order to join the Aberdeen Snowsports Club on-snow coaching programme we ask that you meet the following criteria.
The trainee must be aged 6 years old or older. All trainees aged below 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Meet the following minimum riding standard for Development Groups.
Have reached Level 9/10 for ski and snowboard ability and are taking part in Aberdeen Snowsports Centre (or equivalent) Coached Sessions OR are able to ski or snowboard confidently and in control on all blue pisted runs and have the ability to use a ski centre's lift infrastructure (T-Bars, Pomas and Chairlifts)
Those who are of a level of riding where they would be confident on a minimum of blue slopes but have not been on-snow before and are at the standard of Level 8 for ski or snowboard we would ask that you attend one of our “Introduction to Snow” courses. On completion of this course the Coach will then refer you either to one of the Coaching groups or recommend you take further instruction/lessons either at a Ski Centre (such as Glenshee) or dry slope Centre (such as Aberdeen Snowsports Centre) before entering to an on-snow coaching group.
For entry into our performance groups this will be on referral from our Development Groups.
