This one-day workshop brings together experts in French politics to look back upon the election and look forwards to the key challenges Macron faces. We will consider the factors shaping the election result; the significance of the outcome for the UK, Europe and beyond; the state of French political parties in the wake of an election that saw the mainstream right and left collapse and be subsumed by the far-right and the far-left; the potential of Macron's own party to survive beyond his presidency; and the potential outcomes and impact of the parliamentary elections in June.
