Learning outcomes:

This module will build on linguistic competence gained in the introductory module or those who have already gained a level of French. More complex linguistic structures are introduced to enable students to cope in a wide range of business situations. With this course students will be able to enhance their commercial and economic French. Each lesson presents texts and dialogues, and numerous oral and written exercises to evaluate progression. The CAN-8 VirtuaLab system enables students to work more on oral skills, which are essential to be efficient in today’s business world.

French for Business is offered as three modules (Post-GCSE, Intermediate, Advanced).

This certificate is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students from all faculties in the university as well as members of the general public. The course can be accessed through CAN-8, the computer-based language-learning platform in the University's multimedia Language Centre, allowing students to study at their own pace and in their own time as well as having the opportunity to attend weekly one hour tutor-contact sessions. Each module will be delivered over two semesters.

Students must normally pass all three modules to be awarded Route A DegreePlus recognition. Students can take one module per semester, or choose to take on more than one if they wish. Students will recieve a Language Centre Certificate upon completion of each module.
