Event description

Description

Come gather 'round people wherever you roam, put on your oversized jumpers and head to Prince Albert for our somewhat folk session.

OH MAMA
Psychedelicious broth of shuddering fuzzroots, clattering tangles of intricate groove, dazzling licks of fire and space, ceremonial wails of mayhem and grace. Psychodelicious blues rock with the sporadic ol' drizzle of funK.

ROBBIE SKITMORE and THE SPANISH HARLEM INCIDENT
Robbie Skitmore has been plying his trade as a songwriter since the late 90's back in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada as part of the fertile Canadian indie rock scene of the late '90s and early-mid 2000's. With several albums under his belt and multiple bands notched on the bedpost, Robbie packed up in 2007 for a new adventure and landed in the UK where he now calls Brighton home. Several home recordings later and a full-length album release to boot, Robbie and his backing band, the Spanish Harlem Incident - a revolving door of seasoned musicians to colour his songwriting landscape - continue to gig around the Southeast of England. With a second album now on the verge of release in Oct 2018, Robbie and the Spanish Harlem boys are picking up the pace locally and beyond. Drawing from differing styles of indie rock, folk, blues, Americana/alt-country balanced in the centre with a Little Rock and Roll, Robbie continues to hone his craft with hooks aplenty and heart on the sleeve lyrics.

BEE & JACKRABBIT are an alt-folk duo who play intricately arranged songs about...everything and nothing! They met at someone else’s gig when Paul was feeling particularly lonely as a performer and had always wanted some cello. They got far more cello than they’d ever imagined so it seemed wrong to just be called, “Paul F Murray featuring Amy Squirrell ” hence “Bee & Jackrabbit” was born. The name is from a book called “Woman on the Edge of Time” by Marge Piercy.
Instantly becoming inseparable friends whilst balancing a strict(ish) working relationship, Paul and Amy have quickly built up a strong following around Brighton and beyond. They are known for their infectious chemistry on stage, thoughtful and observant lyrics, layered harmonies and hypnotic guitar/string arrangements. They are occasionally joined by unofficial/sort of official third member Nick Williams of the band Night House on keys and synth. Together they have released one E.P; “Party?” which still goes under the Paul F Murray name on Spotify, but is unmistakably a Bee & Jackrabbit record. Go check it out! Thanks for stopping by, keep your eyes open on where to see us next! "Their music and lyrics manage to conjure images and thoughts much grander than the sum of their parts, with the kind of introspective nobility that could serve as the soundtrack to your life flashing before your eyes during your final moments". - Jimmy Volts, XYZ magazine "A beautiful E.P; deep rich vocals, dark humour, memorable melodies, cathartic honesty. Murray's music is the kind that will transcend and enrich in a live setting" - Britz N Beatz magazine"Creative, reflective lyrics put to equally accomplished music" - Lisa O'Connor "A brilliant songwriter, every lyric and song was relatable and easy to listen to" - InTune Music Blog
