Description

RADICAL MANCHESTER

Welcome to 'Freshwalks City', a collaboration with Tour Manchester, bringing together business people in and around Manchester city centre. For our first city walk of 2018 we have a new route and a new story to tell. That of Manchester's incredible radical history - something we should all be proud of. We'll take a route (approx 45 mins) around the city centre listening to stories from Peterloo to the millworkers solidarity against slavery in the US. We'll then enjoy a sandwich buffet lunch at Grand Pacific fittingly located within the old Manchester Reform Club building, once home to the city's liberal elite.

Our mission is to get Manchester's business community walking much more. To encourage behavioural change that will undoubtedly improve the health and wellbeing of our working population and positively affect business productivity.

You are also going to meet some amazing people, make valuable business contacts and return to the office buzzing with energy and ideas.

Unlike our all-day forays into the Dark Peak wilderness, you simply need to bring yourself. We plan to move at a semi-brisk pace rather than amble along, so a comfortable pair of shoes or trainers might work better than heels or formal shoes. Full details will be sent via email at least 48 hours prior to the walk.

Tour Manchester is led by Sue McCarthy, an official Green Badge Guide registered with the Institute of Tour Guiding. There'll be a few nuggets of local insight sprinkled across our walks but first and foremost, it's about meeting new people and simple exercise on carefully selected routes that will stimulate interaction and conversation.

Hope you can join us. Michael.
