The Friends of Almondell & Calderwood are a well established group that have been working in partnership with the Ranger Service for over 10 years, helping to care for the Park. The group meet for a session on the first Saturday of each month, carrying out practical conservation and maintenance tasks in Almondell and Calderwood.
There are always lots of jobs to do in the Country Park. If you would like to join the Friends group, or just attend one or more of their sessions, please reserve your spot through Eventbrite. Alternatively you can contact the Friends group through their Facebook page, which also has the sessions listed as events: https://www.facebook.com/friendsofalmondell
The sessions run for two hours, from 10am-12pm. The meeting point is outside of the Visitor Centre at 10am. The closest car park is North car park, which is an approx. 8 minute walk down the hill to the Visitor Centre. A Park map has been attached for reference.
Please note, Friends group sessions are not always Ranger-led, and may be led by volunteers. Tools will be provided, but please bring gloves with you if you have them and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for working outdoors. Please bring any snacks and drinks you require. The closest toilets will be located at the Visitor Centre, or in the Walled Garden near the Visitor Centre.
