About this event

From conflict to connection: Tackling hate speech and polarisation in the classroom

In a borough so personally impacted by devastating conflicts overseas, Haringey’s young people are increasingly vulnerable to misinformation and hate speech online. The Israel-Palestine conflict, in particular, is having a serious emotional and psychological impact on our students and it is important for school staff to be confident in supporting these young people however they can.

As part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, join the Haringey Community Safety team for a very necessary online event where we'll delve into the impact of these devastating international conflicts on Haringey schools, build staff confidence in supporting students through difficult times, identify the difference between free speech and hate speech, and navigate these challenging, controversial and often polarising topics with professionalism, empathy and awareness.
