Description

Annual Conference 2017 - The Labour Party

Research shows that all too often vulnerable groups - such as asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence or abuse, and the homeless - experience a range of difficulties when it comes to accessing legal advice and support. Individuals either struggle to find or afford legal services, or, where they do, they often fail to get the exact help they need. This event, with Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, Richard Burgon MP, and Bambos Charalambous MP, will discuss what more we can do to develop our legal services market so as to provide support for vulnerable groups, examining the role of legal education, technology and online services, and regulatory reform.

Chair:

Jon Bernstein, New Statesman Former Deputy Editor

Speakers:

Richard Burgon MP - Shadow Lord Chancellor and Shadow Secretary of State for Justice

Bambos Charalambous MP - Member for Enfield Southgate

Sarah Sackman - Barrister

Jane Malcolm - Executive Director of External Affairs, SRA

Janet Morrison - Chief Executive, Independent Age
