What will this presentation cover?

  • A review of interesting milestones in human history that contributed to the development of computers, the Internet and Artificial Intelligence.
  • The promise of Artificial Intelligence, sharing experience from building models in a cyber-security research group as well as the experience of utilising the largest generative models available.
  • The implications of the current A.I. revolution to the safety of citizens and societies.

Who is this event aimed at?

The general public, BCS members, University, college and school students, local business people and those interested in understanding computing and cyber security development.


SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Petr Somol. AI Research Director at Gen Digital.

Petr has spent the last decade managing R&D teams applying Artificial Intelligence in Cyber-Security and more general in Digital Safety. Notable deliveries include multiple releases of Cisco Cognitive Threat Analytics and recently the anti-scam tool Norton Genie, developing the concept and then managed the team behind the detection engine.

Petr is a problem solver working between practical programming and mathematic. He has invented algorithms and technologies in the fields of document analysis, information retrieval, data mining and subset selection, In addition; decision systems, computer graphics (6-dimensional BTF bitmap processing for DaimlerChrysler) etc. He acts as leader of highly skilled people with particular emphasis on mutual trust, keeps some academic duties, including supervision of doctoral students.

Petr’s specialties include artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, algorithm analysis, data mining, programming (coded mostly in C++), team management, applied research project management, industry-academia cooperation.

Our events are for adults aged 16 years and over, children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
