From Evidence to Excellence- Strengthening Teaching & Learning in Year 6
Overview
This session supports English leaders to make informed, high-impact decisions in UKS2/Year 6 by strengthening the link between evidence, pedagogy, and curriculum intent.
Leaders will explore how to interpret assessment data and classroom evidence to identify the priorities that matter most, avoiding reactive responses.
The session will then focus on supporting teaching and learning in Year 6 through purposeful quality assurance, high-leverage feedback, and the 1% principle, showing how small, consistent improvements can compound over time.
Finally, leaders will consider how test technique can be taught explicitly yet proportionately, embedded within a broad and rich English curriculum rather than narrowing it.
