Description

With a new Canon Precentor, Director of Music, and Assistant Director of Music, Bradford has ambitious and exciting plans for the future. Here is an opportunity to see - and hear - behind the scenes of this busy cathedral music department, and to learn how national and local support from the Friends of Cathedral Music and other organisations is helping to establish Bradford Cathedral as a centre for musical and educational excellence.

The timetable for the day is:

Tea and coffee on arrival
1200 - Welcome and Introduction: The Revd Canon Paul Maybury, Canon Precentor
1205 - Keynote Speech: Professor Peter Toyne CBE, Chairman, Friends of Cathedral Music
1215 - Chorister Masterclass: Joe Judge, Friends of Cathedral Music Chorister Tutor
1235 - Organ Performance of Peter and the Wolf (Prokofiev): Alex Berry, Director of Music, and Donald Stephenson (Lay Clerk)
1310 - Talk on the Organ Restoration Project: Jon Payne, Assistant Director of Music
1330 - Buffet Lunch and opportunity to meet the Cathedral Music Department team
1415 - Open Rehearsal: boys, girls, and adults of the cathedral choir
1500 - Choral Evensong
1600 - Depart

Ticket price includes a buffet lunch with wine. Secure nearby parking available at the Broadway Shopping Centre (access via Hall Ings).
