From Isolation to Community: a human response to the climate crisis
Event Information
About this event
SPEAKERS: Dr Carmody Grey, Assistant Professor of Catholic Theology at Durham University and Roger Hallam, Co-Founder of Extinction Rebellion. Others to be confirmed.
A simple but devastating question: why have hundreds of millions of the best educated and informed people to have ever lived failed to act on the climate crisis? A crisis set to destroy civilisation.
The answer: facts alone mean nothing. Only when facts are connected to how we feel and what we really care about do we take action.
We invite anyone and everyone to a day of adopting new values and beliefs which will enable us to connect with each other and confront the horrors we face. How can we see ourselves and the world in a way that makes action an act of responsibility, rather than a cost? How can our lives become more resilient and whole?
Christian theologian Dr Carmody Grey will speak along with other contributors. Then we will consider the beliefs and values we need to be able to step up and take the direct action which is needed at this time of emergency.
The event is open to both people who are new to the climate crisis as well as seasoned campaigners. And to people from religious or non-religious backgrounds. All are welcome. We are all in this together.
There is no set ticket price for this event, but we ask that you make a donation at whatever level you can afford to cover the cost of admin and hall rental. Thank you.
