About this event

Community • Heritage

Let’s tell tales of the Fish Quay, some not told before,

Gather round to hear the stories washed up on this shore,

Tales brought here in bottles, stories from the quay,

Sagas from the fishing boats, legends from the sea.

This special evening, produced by Tyneside Cinema and Pinwheel, invites you to celebrate and share in stories of North Shields Fish Quay, told through film, music, photography and more. Join us for tales of the people, places and legends of this historic harbour and we’ll journey together through time and tide.

The evening will include:

- Premier of Tides, a short film of North Shields by Sam Gannie & Anthony Gannie

- Debut of a collection of 5 short animations inspired by unique and unforgettable stories of North Shields, animated and edited by Sheryl Jenkins, music and sound by Staithe, a new project of Bridie Jackson and Nick Pierce

- A winding trail of tales woven by artist Olly Armstrong together with communities from the North Shields Fish Quay

- A specially curated gallery from AmberSide’s extensive collection of photography from North Shields, supplied courtesy of Side & The AmberSide Trust

- Live music from Staithe, Olly Armstrong and more, including original songs inspired by the Fish Quay

- Q&A with special guests

- And opportunities to contribute your own stories
