This September, artist Anne Waggot Knott is holding a pair of workshops on the banks of the River Tweed near St Boswells.
Working slowly by the riverside, swimming, walking, filming, and building using deadwood and grasses, Anne has been physically embedding herself in the riverine setting, observing it and becoming it over the summer months.
By constructing miniature buildings from natural materials and placing them covertly in the environment, she is examining the implications of asserting rights or ownership over parts of the river, its surroundings, and its inputs and outputs.
Anne is continuing to develop these structures and these 2 free workshops, held in the area near St Boswells that Anne has been working, will give participants opportunities to co-create their own small-scale, temporary follies made from natural materials accompanied by informal, imaginative discussion inspired by Anne’s From the Ground Up research.
These workshops are part of From the Ground Up, Anne's ongoing project with Connecting Threads.
