Dr Lynsey Howard
In this talk, Dr Howard will tell us about her career in academics and industry, and what inspired her to make the leap from one to the other.
Dr Howard is Lead Scientist for Lamellar Biomedical Ltd. Lamellar Biomedical's mission is to research, develop and commercialise novel healthcare products based on the mimicry or modification of the lamellar body secretory system. Lamellar bodies manage the internal interfaces between human tissues, as well as the interfaces between tissues and the external environment as in respiratory airways, the eyes and the mouth. Dr Howard coordinates lamellar biomedical's internal and external pre-clinical research activities.
Dr Howard attained her PhD from the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow after which she was a post-doctoral researcher working in vascular pathology and regeneration at the University of Bristol. She has a broad range of experience in microbiology, pulmonary biology, cardiovascular biology, transcriptional/translational analyses, molecular biology, gene therapy and stem cell research.
She enjoys using her skills, enthusiasm and problem solving abilities to further research projects and support the commercial success of Lamellar Biomedical.
