Welcome one and all to our special Edition of Front To Black, where we'll be swept into the Genre-bending novel Kindred by Octavia E.Butler.

Book Summary:

Dana, A modern Black woman, is pulled through time to Antebellum Maryland, where survival means confronting the harsh truths of her family’s past.

A 20th Century Masterpiece - Octavia E. Butler’s novel is a tense, unforgettable story about slavery, identity, and the ties that bind us across generations.

Front to Black remains a space to explore the full spectrum of the Black experience through literature - including the the lasting impact of slavery.

While we know it can be exhausting to consume media that solely focuses on our struggles, these stories remain crucial reminders of the joy, resilience, and creativity of Black life.
