Description

Napoleon may have said that an army marches on its stomach, but most armies marched nowhere without their boots. This talk will cover the history of military footwear, from the Romans to the present day.

A free talk on 'Frontline Footwear' by John Spencer, Military Curator.

Part of our Shoes exhibition, open from 9 June to 17 November 2018. The exhibition explores the large and varied shoe collection at Calderdale Museums, from the Duke of Wellington’s boots to the swinging sixties we’ll be discovering the history of this fascinating fashion item and telling the stories of the people who wore them.

Saturday 4 August at 2pm in the Akroyd Library at Bankfield Museum.
