FRUIT PALACE presents KOG (live)

Outrageously talented whirlwind of energy that is KOG - Kweku of Ghana - a vocalist, percussionist and firebrand storyteller, combining unique Afro grooves, vocal versatility and charismatic energy. Bringing his 5-piece live show to Hootananny for the first time, this live band show gives Kweku a chance to create a more intimate connection with the audience; showcasing his signature vocal range, percussive textures, offbeat poetic observations and masterful flow alongside the infectious, high-energy stage presence that has won him fans all over the world.

Also celebrated for his explosive international live shows with his earth-shattering band KOG & the Zongo Brigade and fiery Afro-electronic project Onipa, a collaboration with Tom Excell of Nubiyan Twist.

NECKTR

This high-energy 9 piece soul band fuse elements of hip hop, afrobeat, soul and jazz to create compositions that provide an exciting twist on contemporary songwriting. Their sound explores a wealth of textures and soundscapes as they weave between captivating grooves and anthemic choruses.

After gaining a reputation in Leeds for their raucous live shows, the band took to the road and have played alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, Nubiyan Twist, KOG and The Zongo Brigade, Nubya Garcia, Afriquoi and Snazzback. Including performances at the Jazz Café as well as The Great Escape, Mostly Funk & Soul and Boomtown.

The band released their debut EP ‘Something’s Happening’ through Wormfood Records in 2018 and are currently working on a second release, due this Spring.

KONTIKI

Playing juicy and distinctive guitar driven dance grooves laden with, afrobeat, highlife, funk, desert blues, jam rock and soukous. The Bradford/Leeds-based outfit features members from Têtes de Pois and KOG.

Having released their debut EP at the end of 2019, Kontiki continue to bring joyous, energetic and highly danceable tunes to sweaty, dancing, smiley audiences.

FRUIT PALACE DJs

Head of Fruit Palace, Harry Duncan traverses groove-laden funk, Latin and Afro-electronica. Luka navigates party-flexed break beats, bass music and more. Whilst Lit Jams’ sets slide from one genre to another, linking up musical dots in ways that'll keep you surprised and, most importantly, dancing.
