About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

A hands-on workshop on summer pruning in Tyninghame Organic Orchard for gardeners who are cultivating fruit trees. We will run through the principles of pruning and why you prune in the summer, distinguishing between tip-bearing and spur-fruiting apple varieties. Our focus will be on pear and apple trees, with some reference to plums. You will learn how to prune fruit trees using secateurs to help the ripening process and maximise fruit production in the following year.

The workshop will include practical demonstrations and a chance to try out pruning yourself. If you have a pair of sharp bypass (not anvil) secateurs, please bring them along.

Places are limited so please book promptly to avoid disappointment.
