Event description
The first annual FSD Teaching Conference, on the topic of the teaching of reading at secondary level.

About this event

Framwellgate School Durham is excited to host this event, the first of many annual Teaching and Learning conferences.

The event will take place on Friday 25th March 2022 in the Sjovoll Centre, and will provide a forum for delegates to listen to a range of presentations on the topic of the teaching of reading at secondary level and to discuss both whole-school and classroom strategies for developing students' literacy.

The conference will be opened by our keynote speaker, Barbara Bleiman, who will be joining us remotely to explore the fundamental importance of reading and to introduce the core themes of the day. After Barbara, we will hear from a range of speakers who bring a wealth of classroom and leadership experience on whole-school approaches to reading, intervention strategies, disciplinary literacy, and creating a reading culture. We are delighted that these speakers will be able to share their evidence-informed practice and their passion for literacy.

The Sjovoll Centre is located near the centre of the beautiful and historic city of Durham. It is easily accessible by car, and Durham train station is a short taxi ride away.

Tickets include tea and coffee, as well as lunch. If you have any queries, please email fsdconference2022@framdurham.com.
