Event description

Description

From raves to riots and revolutions, music has been used to shatter political and social norms and shake-up the status-quo. But people have also used it as a tool for manipulation and propaganda.

What makes music so powerful? And whose interests does it serve? After years of touring, playing and protesting, Dave Randall is here to talk about music and social change. From Beethoven to Beyoncé, from the Glastonbury Festival to the Arab Spring, Pop Idol to Trinidadian Carnival, Schoenberg to Skrillex, he finds political inspiration across the musical world and asks: how can we make music help ordinary people, rather than just a privileged few?

Join us at Muntpunt Library for a fascinating discussion on music and protest.
