WHAT TO EXPECT
If jamming round the fire at a festival is your kinda thing then this is the jam for you! Expect an evening filled with collective music-making, creativity & soulful connection all set by candlelight at the new Akasa venue.
Somewhere between a jam, a kirtan & an open mic, our inclusive acoustic jam circle offers attendees the opportunity to share as much or as little as they want with a community dedicated to supporting & nurturing authentic, heartfelt & courageous expression. Whether you’re a seasoned musician, rapper, poet or storyteller, or just someone who loves the vibrations of a jam, your presence is deeply appreciated & warmly welcome.

JAM GUIDANCE
We are dedicated to creating a supportive & judgement-free atmosphere where you are encouraged to participate in whichever way feels right for you. At our events every contribution & voice is valued equally and listening to & supporting one another is favoured over individual one-upmanship. We don’t distinguish between performer & audience, musician & non-musician, participant & non-participant and there is no stage or hierarchy - just one unified circle.
With this in mind, we know not all instruments & voices carry the same volume, so we invite everyone to stay aware of their presence in the mix — tuning in to the collective sound rather than standing out alone. When we all play with this sensitivity, everyone gets a chance to be heard — and that’s when the magic truly happens. We’ll also hold a dedicated space in the jam for newcomers and shy sharers to express themselves should they wish.
Please note: to best cultivate this balance & also bring greater alignment with Akasa's noise policy, we ask attendees to leave loud percussion instruments at home. Quieter percussive instruments like shakers/tambourines/softer drums etc. are fine but no djembe's please. We will provide a selection of percussion instruments you are welcome to use and hope you understand this decision.
WE PRACTICE...
🍺 Sobriety from alcohol & drugs - these jams are a conscious sober practice that invite collective presence. In order to uphold the safety of the container, any attendee not following this principle will, without judgement, be asked to leave
🙏 Living by our community values - we ask jammers to uphold our community values of inclusivity, kindness & respect for ourselves & all our fellow jammers, whatever their indentities, backgrounds or beliefs
🥦 Veganism - please respect this vegan event by not bringing any animal products into the venue
