Art & Music Series @ Different

Full Moon in Aries and The Divine

Part of the Art & Music Series, Gallery Different presents an immersive sensory experience. A collaborative event between South London based artist Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf & musician Roxanne Tataei. A night where art & sound meet in exploration of the female creative spirit.

Full Moon In Airies (Detail) by Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf

Thematically both artists share an interest in the human experience & what it means to be an ever changing spiritual being in a materialistic world, in which wealth, looks and youth are seemly valued above everything else. Roxanne Tataei’s new album ‘Full Moon in Aries’ due for release Summer of 2018 offers a personal account of how these opposing realities are lived & experienced in a singular body. We invite you to experience a stripped back acoustic rendition of Roxanne Tatei’s new album whilst surrounded by artist Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf responding body of work born from this shared creative dialogue.

Your ticket will give you access to the whole exhibition - Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf will also be showing a series of new paintings inspired by the female archetype, from saints to voodoo spirits, to the goddesses of the Greek Pantheon. The new body of work Dreams, Promise and the Divine presents a creative exploration into the many forms these archetypes inhabit, offering a plethora of possibilities of what it means to be a woman. Be sure to arrive early enough to view the exhibition - there will also be opportunity during the interval to view the paintings and to meet the artist.

About Roxanne Tataei...

Roxanne Tataei's critically acclaimed debut album 'Memoirs' was released in 2010 on formidable indie label Rough Trade. The LP led to an extensive period of touring worldwide, supporting the likes of Florence & The Machine & Raphael Saadiq, & collaborations with the likes of Mark Ronson, Paul Weller & Nitin Sawhney. Wanderlust sated, the last few years have been dedicated to writing & recording new material. The end of 2015 saw the release of the 'Grey Area' EP which Wonderland Magazine described as "one of the year's most intoxicating EPs... a spellbinding collection of trap & soul sounds mixed together in a winding, hypnotic melting pot". A bold departure from her debut, Roxanne self- released the EP & collaborated with noted producer Patrice (Ceelo Green, Cody Chesnutt). With her second full - length album “Full Moon In Aries” completed, Roxanne co-produced tracks with new collaborators including, Nick Trepka (Emmy the Great), Grammy award winning producer Al Shux (Lana Del Rey, Alicia Keys) & NTS maverick Lord Tusk (Mos Def, Dean Blunt) in tow, Roxanne is gearing up for her Independent release, more expressive, exploratory and emancipated than ever before. Describing herself & her new music as the lovechild of Minnie Riperton & Stevie Nicks, by way of South London, expect very exciting things.
