Recent IPPR North research has revealed the essential contribution our smaller northern cities such as Preston, Wigan and Sunderland make to the UK economy, supporting our larger cities like Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
So with a new Government in place and ‘Brexit’ talks now under way, IPPR North is bringing stakeholders from across the north together to discuss:
- how we continue to drive forward economic growth right across the region
- the role of government at both a national and local level in building a prosperous economy in every part of the North
- whether a ‘Great North Plan’ could help drive investment forward.
Join us in Liverpool from 10.00am on Monday 26 September for a brunch briefing to discuss these and other questions, with a panel including:
Louise Ellman MP, chair, Transport Select Committee and MP for Liverpool Riverside
Nigel Foster, director of strategy, Transport for the North
David Horne, managing director, Virgin Trains
Anna Turley MP, member of parliament for Redcar
Cllr Judith Blake, leader, Leeds city council
Ed Cox, director, IPPR North (chair).
Cllr Liam Robinson, chair of Merseytravel, will give the opening welcome address.
The event is being held at Merseytravel Head Office, Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP.
